Athletic Eligibility Requirements
To participate in athletics at Pasquotank County High School, students must meet the following requirements:
Age Requirement
Students may not participate if they turn 19 years old on or before August 31 of the school year.
Semesters & Seasons
Eligibility is limited to eight consecutive semesters after entering 9th grade, and no more than four seasons in any one sport.
Attendance
Students must attend at least 85% of school days.
This means no more than 13.5 absences (excused or unexcused) in the previous 90-day semester.
Academic Promotion Standards
Students must meet local promotion standards:
• To enter Grade 10: 6 credits (including English I)
• To enter Grade 11: 13 credits (including English II)
• To enter Grade 12: 20 credits (including English III)
Only approved credit-bearing courses count; audited courses do not.
Semester Eligibility
A student who is ineligible at the start of a semester remains ineligible for the entire semester.
Course Load
Students must take and pass at least 3 courses to be eligible for the following semester’s sports, including seniors (even if fewer courses are needed for graduation).
Medical Examination
A physical examination is required within the past 365 days.
Conduct
Students must follow all school rules and policies. Major disciplinary infractions may result in loss of eligibility, as determined by the Athletic Director.

Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation (PPE)
Before participating in any athletic season, students must have a current Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation (PPE) on file.

Important Notes:
• The PPE form must be signed by a licensed physician.
• Once signed, the completed form should be turned in to the school.
• A physical is valid for one year and may be used for multiple sports.
• The physical must be completed and submitted before tryouts for any sport.

• Parent/guardian email & phone number
